Women We Love

Women We Love

At Infamous Swim we are all for women! This International Women’s Day we want to focus on celebrating the women’s achievements, women that are helping forge a gender equal world, women raising awareness against bias, women who empower women, women who inspire us and women who embody the values that we, at Infamous Swim hold dear. Here are just a few of the women we love.

Charli Kate

Charli decided to create an Instagram account to document her and her husband’s life achievements and events. But the most important reason why she created an Instagram account was to give courage and support to others with dwarfism around the world. She thought it would boost the morale of others with dwarfism and cheer others on to live their lives without feeling ashamed. Charli hoped that by creating an Instagram account, it would encourage others with dwarfism, just like them, to see the beauty in their height and accept themselves for who they are. Charli is an inspiring body positivity advocate for all women and we absolutely love sharing in her journey.

Turia Pitt

Is one amazing woman. After being caught in a grass fire while competing in a 100km ultra-marathon and suffering burns to 65% of her body (losing 7 fingers and having over 200 medical procedures and spending 2 years in recovery), she has since spent her time teaching other people how to achieve their goals. She writes about happiness, confidence, overcoming self-doubt and living the life we want to live for ourselves. We love her positivity, her passion and unfailing support to empower and guide women to live the lives they want. Turia is a mother, a survivor and an inspiration to all.

Tanya Hosch

Tanya Hosch is the first Indigenous person and second woman appointed to the AFL executive. She was awarded the South Australian of the year for 2021 and with good reason! Tanya is a woman we love for her work advancing women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and gender-diverse Australians. Tanya championed the first Indigenous player statue of Nicky Winmar and instigated a review of anti-vilification policy within the code. She helped deliver a new industry framework to help prevent racist treatment of AFL players. She drove a new respect and responsibility policy enabling women to seek redress for unacceptable behaviour, and a world-first gender diversity policy for a contact sport.

Rochelle Courtenay

When Rochelle first learnt of homeless women going without basic sanitary items during their menstrual cycle, she decided the question was not, “why is no one doing anything” but rather, “what’s stopping me from doing something?” Rochelle founded Share The Dignity with the focus on ending “period poverty”, the organisation provides sanitary products to homeless and disadvantaged women. Whilst Rochelle has made mistakes in her past, and her journey to now has been a tumultuous ride, the heart and passion behind her commitment to the foundation of Share The Dignity is inspiring and the result is a foundation that supports women and actively works towards providing women with dignity.
